Spawning log - Red Headed Gobies

Fish: Red headed gobies, Elacatinus puncticulatus

Purchased: 4/9/10 and 4/14/10 from Seascape and Aquatic Warehouse (San Diego)

Paired: Mid May

First Spawn: 6/10/2010???

Notes:I discovered the nest today. The eggs have silvery eyes so I'm thinking they're around 6 days old. At any rate they'll be pulled tonight. I noticed the male's head turning a dark charcoal color lately and when he didn't come out to eat I thought I'd see what's up. Much to my suprise I found eggs! Pics to come, if I can get a good shot.

I left Nook's pool party early because these guys were going to hatch tonight. It's a darn good thing I did! As soon as I put them in the hatching jar they popped out like a swarm of locusts!

Another nest was laid tonight. It's a good thing these gobies are so prolific, I'm having a super hard time getting any fry to live to 24 hours!

Had another hatch tonight I'm determined to get good pics of these guys, but they're so darn tiny! The dots in the pics are rotifers, to give you a scale.

2 nests have been laid since I last updated...the lsecond was laid yesterday.

I've got some baby redheads that are 3 days old now...a new record for me. Pretty crappy, but at least I'm improving.
